An exquisite small wild pea blossom.



Salsify. This is a European plant that's now naturalized in this country. The stalk bearing the spikey yellow flower is 12-18" high. The seedhead seen below is extraordinary, bearing whisps of thistle or down that carry the seeds away on the slightest breeze.
