Summer Solstice Edition, 2008
From the President, Jo Belasco, Esq.
Sunny and Warm Salutations!
Summer is in full swing here in northern New Mexico, with hummingbirds voraciously eating at the feeders, thunderheads billowing high into the sky, and summer insects singing at night. At this time of year we remember that no matter how cold and dark things seem, soon life will again be abundant and the light will shine full and bright and warm.
Here at Tapestry we are busy on various projects concerning Indigenous science. This is a hectic time for submitting grants that keep our projects moving forward. And Dawn and I have been writing, so far submitting articles to both
Equus and a brand new magazine on women and horses,
Equesse (www.equesseinc.com), soon to appear in print for the very first time. Both articles contain portions of the research we've been doing on the horse-human relationship. One is a scientific look at the predator-prey model of that relationship and the other is about the roots of the relationship between [specifically!] women and horses, as evidenced by some fascinating artifacts from Paleolithic Europe.
We have also set up some blogs with interesting articles concerning issues that affect you every day. Look for us at MySpace, Care2, Blogspot, LiveJournal, and Yahoo 360.
