The LOOM: Newsletter of Tapestry Institute

Winter Solstice Edition, 2007

BearLodge needs you!

Watch for a special mailing next month on how you can become part of BearLodge and all the exciting programs that will happen there.  By the way, one reason we call our new land partner "BearLodge"  because bears live there!   Four years ago, a catastrophic-level wildfire burned an interior basin on the northeast end of the property.  Firefighters reported seeing two bears sitting on top of a great stone, silently watching them as they worked to put out the fire.  We have seen fresh tracks and scat each time we've been there, as well as those of elk, mountain lion, coyotes, and deer.  And in case you're interested, what the bears eat there in November is prickly pear fruit.  It's important for visitors to the Land to remember that it and its bounty belong to itself and to the creatures for whom this Place has been home for thousands of years.
