Women of the Land

Women have always been intimately connected to the land and all of the creatures of the natural world.  Women are creators, giving birth to life just as the earth gives birth in one way or another to every living creature.  Women, especially Indigenous women, have knowledge and wisdom that the world needs desperately today to survive.  The world needs thinkers and doers who will approach our problems within a different worldview.

Tapestry Institute's Women of the Land Program is a unique research and education program based within Indigenous worldview. This program explores the relationship between women and the natural world, giving women the voice they need and deserve so they can lead the way in making the changes necessary for our planet's survival.

This program is in the early planning stages, but we hope to have the first Women of the Land Gathering in fall 2009/spring 2010. The Gathering will be based on the highly successful model we used at "Stories from the Circle: Science and Native Wisdom" Workshop in 2002. More than half of the presenters and participants will be Indigenous women, and the Gathering will be held in Indigenous worldview.

If you are interested in receiving information about this program, please email us and put "Women of the Land" in the subject of the email.
